Any army reserve guys here?

The army is only what you make of it. Combat rotations have and are slowing down a lot after the past decade. I've been active about 7 years and love it. For me I didn't want to juggle a civilian job and military job so it was all in or none. It does get frustrating at times dealing with the bureaucracy but as long as you play their game the pros outweigh the cons IMO.

just randomly browsing and came onto this again, watch out for the military. it seems we are the first to get the shaft if money becomes an issue. never mind the 20 million dollar hawaii vacation obama goes on, or the 250 million we gave to egypt because "they needed it" or the fact that were still trying to pass bills that give Illegal immigrants tuition assistance. they cut our tuition assistance a few days ago...so much for getting my GPA up for college...idk about reserve but got to admit, its a bit disheartening to have benefits your promised pulled out from under you. just my new 2 cents but if your trying to do reserves to have a type of school paid for. i would definitely look into it further because right now, that probably wont happen.

Yup, a LOT of my buddies who are still in are pissed (I got my honorable walking papers last July). Tuition assistance gone last week, now Tricare this week. Both of those were part of the contract we signed when we raised our right hands.

My guess is they're coming for GI Bill next, because fuck the troops, we have to keep paying subsidies to profitable oil companies and keep rewarding banks for fucked-up behavior. That comes first.

Right now, do not enlist, any branch, active or reserve component, period.

And I didn't get through all of Regnar's wharrgarrbl above before replying, but you can all google the real expenditures I listed (billions) vs the FNC talking points he listed (millions, where they've actually happened) and compare for yourselves.

Does any of the recent budget cuts to school programs announced March 1st effect the army reserve?

If active duty is losing benefits, reserves are going to feel the same.

lol yea my bad, my numbers are small pictures. they for some reason block the words "military, Politics, political groups etc" where im at right now. so its hard for me to stay current, hell i figured out i lost TA the day after i lost it. and what you just said about Tricare.... didnt even know till now.
