There are countless success stories of entrepreneurs who were given this advice and ignored it. It is worth trying because even if you fail it will be a valuable lesson and will make you a better person.
Starting your own business is like having the roof ripped off your house, you are exposed to the weather but now you can see the stars.

I agree but you can't say the chance of failure doesn't skyrocket when you want to start a clothing brand with no prior experience or knowledge of the clothing industry. Add the actual running of a business into that (arguably the hardest part) and you have all the odds against you. I'm all for winging it on one portion but I couldn't imagine going into it completely blind.

OP, try to get a job in the small-business boutique clothing world. learn to see if you like it. learn the successes and the failures of the business. educate yourself with real experience.

then and only then go out and try to start your own business. otherwise you're diving in the deep end. and please never say swag, swagger, swagged, etc again.

I guess that's one way to go through life. There are a few things you might not want to try that with. Skydiving, birth-control, oh and maybe your finances.

Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.
