    Anyone here Skibike?

So I accidentally came across snowbikes and the more I look at it, the more I want to ditch the snowboard this year. I should buy bindings etc.
The Pro setups are damn expensive so I want to build one. All used stuff.

    This is so fucking awesome

I couldn't find the price, but I read they're probably around 1000 Euro dollars.

    But doing something like this

I just found a Mongoose Zero G alu frame for $50
The exact "trucks" and fake pedals as above are about $200 (can't find used)
And a set of junior Solomon snowblade style skis $50

    Worth it? Anyone have one?
I'm totally syked about this even though I hate winter.

I'm usually all for fun stuff. Nothing wrong with changing it up. But I would quickly lose interest and want to change it up again. Plus, not all places allow them. Keep the snowboard, use the bike frame for both the skibike and mountain biking in summer.

That way, you have winter and summer fun, having more choices in winter. Would be a hoot.

Interesting. I was curious if it was an option/allowed at the mountain I usually ski and turns out 2.5 hr rental with a lesson is only $99, so might check it out this winter. And half/full day rental with Lenzsport is $49/69, K2 $29/$49.

I think building stuff is cool, but have you tried it yet? Might do that first if you haven't and then start the project. $30 to try someone else's might be worth it if you end up not enjoying it. If you love it, go for it and have a better understanding of how they work, etc.

Yea, I'll throw the snb in the car just in case.
Just want to try something new, been snowboarding for 15 years and I was also thinking about kiteboarding.

^ Damnit, looks like a rear shock frame would come in handy.
Noone rents them anywhere close. Read about someone in Switzerland.
I'm not afraid it wouldn't sell for atleast the invested price, because they're so rare. I bet I could flip it on the slope.

I travel 1200 miles for good snow (hopefully), your 600 mile trip might be a fun - although crazy if just for renting a skibike. Buying and selling might be easier.

Also, if you do make one, realize that you will probably be welding aluminum, which is a pain in the ass to do right, unless you already know how/have the equipment.

The set comes with the two trucks or whatever you want to call em and wide pedals instead of the pegs in the pic.
All ready to mount. Even has quick release if you choose.
The bigfoot skis have to be a certain model, but I've found used ones too. Low budget ftw!
Can't find any well priced frames with shocks front/rear so I'll settle for just front for now.

Really easy to spot bargain mtb stuff now that their season is over :D

That looks like a better way to hurt ones self than a snowboard

that does look bad ass...never ridden a full suspension one, but have used a ski tricycle. Definitely not as much fun as those mtb ones look!

It's awesome! Round here not as many place allow them though, so I ski too.

                      Certainly turns heads.

I'm building a 2nd one off a DH frame, mostly just for the slacked out aspect.

I think it would feel weird not having the pedals/foot pegs offset like how you ride on a real bike.

Not one that is light enough that you can control with your lower body the way you can with a bicycle.
