Going to the UK mid January... recommendations?

So I booked a trip to the UK not long ago and I'm seeking some recommendations.

I'll be crashing with a friend that knows the area quite well but she's asking if there's anything in particular that I'd like to see.

Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the London Eye are some that come to mind.

Too bad you're not going in the summer, I've heard the RAF museum at Duxford is pretty cool. In the summer they fly some cool stuff and host classic warbird airshows. Other than that, "smuggle" euro parts home;)

Imperial war museum for sure...... If you like that stuff.

Catch a live show/play downtown london, for some culture, and do a pub crawl after. Easy pickings on the local girls, as a foreigner.;)

          Where all are you going?

Speakers corner on Sunday morning in the park.......hilarious as people literally stand on thier soapbox and rant over everything.

I'm going to the UK on Boxing Day. Try to get to a Premier League games if you can, The atmosphere is great & you can find decently priced tickets for good teams. I'm seeing 5 games while I'm there, the tickets I have range from £15-£60. Arsenal charge away fans £60 which is more than a number of clubs charge their home fans.

You have to see all the big castles! The Lakes District is very nice, but not much happens there. I've been told Edinburgh is cheap this time of year. Camden Markets are pretty wicked too. Go to Silverstone & Milton Keynes to see the RBR F1 & Aston Martin HQ's. The Cotswolds are picturesque & is your typical English countryside. Bath is pretty cool & full of Roman history. If you don't want to be stabbed, avoid Birmingham and Liverpool at night.

Go see France or Amsterdam for a few days if you have time, They won't disappoint.

You're from NYC so you're probably used to the sort of weather/ temperature over there. I'm coming from around 100°f. It's going to be quite a shock

Actually, I am interested in that sorta stuff. I'll definitely look into that! Definitely going to be checking out some of the local theater stuff too because the girl does it for a living. Pub crawl and whiskey are definitely on order!

Well its just me traveling there... she's located in St John's Wood :giggle: so pretty much dead center! Didn't know about Speakers corner and I will most certainly ask her to show me this place.

Not much of a boxing fan to be honest, but a game of football would be SWEET! I'll ask my fellow football fans for recommendations on whom to see. I don't follow any particular team but love the sport.

I've sent her an email about the castles cause that kinda stuff definitely interests me.

Thank you for the other recommendations I'll put them on my list!

If you are a history fan Bath and the cotswolds are amazing, and even go on a tour of the locks for a day or two if you have the time.
