idunno then. i guess i've never thought about that aspect of the ergonomics that much. but another favorite of mine, the mk2 vw, has it in about the same place:
so open-door goes "pop lever, grab handle, extend arm" with the left hand on either car

if you're locking them a lot, that's too far back- by "bent extended" i mean upper back against your seat with a 10-15deg bend in your arms like this (i know it's just a video game, it's the first thing i found with GIS):
I had a Peugeot 605 back in the day nad the handle was the best thing anyone ever constructed. To this day I have no idea why noone else has used this. A vertical handle is unnatural.
The handle is horizontal in the gap between the armrest and pull handle. Whe your arm is layed down and your hand is in the gap, you just pull up on the handle and push the door.
Fucking loved that more than anything on the car.
