I've realized most of the "I need x in my life" cars that have been coming up are e30-esque in styling..? Bug eyed, small, two door, more or less boxy design lines
Yes, the Alfaholics stuff is pretty sweet. I had a long list of things I was going to buy for my GTV before it got mugged.
A few thoughts however. The 510 can be made to be a better handling car. The Alfa has more power in stock form, but is horribly limited due to the head design. a full 10/10ths 2 liter Nord motor only makes about 200 hp and has a life span measured in hours (single digit.) A L20B Nissan motor can be built to about the same amount of power as the full race GTV motor, but it will remain street drive-able. The suspension geometry of the GTV is absolute crap. Lowering it causes the front roll center to drop way below ground level (bad) and the rear remains horribly high (Lots of body roll.) The front geometry of the GTV is so bad you end up needing 1400 lbs springs up front and miles of static negative camber. The good news is that Alfaholicis has a kit to help with these issues.
Hands down, the GTV is a better looking car. The interior is also very nice. Mine had real Mahogany in the dash the gauges were epic, and the seats were pretty cool (Also VERY rare since they were specific to the 640 US Spec 1969 1750 GTVs built.) A 510 has nothing on the GTV here.
That said, autocrossing my mostly stock GTV vs a mostly stock 510 was not even a race. I was usually about 10 seconds faster than the 510. That said, I nearly always got blown out by a slightly modified (suspension) 510. Still, everyone loved seeing my GTV out.
