My 550d (T2i) came with 2 batteries...I would assume the T3i would also?
They even included a plastic cover, so I keep the second one charged, always in my bag. A battery grip will just ad unneeded weight anyway, skip it.

i think this is a very good lens for the price. have you checked the reviews?
i like doing landscapes and environmental portraiture. this sort of lens would be about 80% of my shots with a 35mm camera.
this is a whole 'nuther conversation, but for christmas, my girlie got me a used wista sp 4x5. i am looking at 65mm lenses for this which would be comparable to 20mm for a standard 35mm camera. i can't wait to shoot landscapes with it out west this summer.
one thing i can say about photography equipment is that the cost adds up really quick there isn't much that is cheap. (except sd cards) its really hard to stick to a budget.
the lenses that come with those "consumer kits" such as you would get at best buy or costco are pretty much crap by any professional standard. they are good to get you started. they are also fine for just snapping pix of your dog/kids/family. if you plan on doing anything further in photography, you will quickly find that you want better lenses.sigpic

If you want a W/A zoom that Tonkina is going to be hard to beat for the price point. Just remember in that focal length range you are going to get some fish eye effect and image compression at the lower side of the scale
If your wanting Prime a EF20mm F2.8 USM from canon should run you about 350-400 used and 400-500 new. Or an EF28mm F1.8 USM for about the same price points. In these focal lengths you will not get nearly as much fish eye effect if any especially out of the 28mm and I prefer Primes for W/A.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I recently got the tokina. Very pleased with it and looking forward to backpacking this summer for some landscapes. 11mm is ridiculously wide, you can stand les than 3 feet from someone and capture their whole body. The "zoom" is minor as 16 is still pretty wide, is very much is a specialty lense.that said, i love it so far, great bang for the buck, almost as good of value as a prime 50
