Did a little something non car related. Have an iPhone?

Wanted to share this with the R3V family.

My buddy and I ended up venturing into the iPhone case world. Decided to name the company something that reminds us of e30s :).

    technikcase.com

The case consists of two steel plates on both the front and the back. The plates are captured with 8 screws and padded by 4 rubber bumpers (with threaded steel inserts) at each corner.

We powder coat these in black, white, and crinkle black. We also plan on releasing some limited edition finishes. Right now we are prototyping one that will be chemically rusted and sealed in industrial strength clear coat.

Anyway, thanks for looking guys. If you like what you see, any support is appreciated, please like our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/TechnikCase

I like it. If I had one of these two months ago, my new iphone would still have all of its front glass.

We've talked about this, but there are no immediate plans to have those available. But to be honest if we did end up offering solid back versions of these, we would also offer the solid back plate separately as well for those that already purchased a case and want to change it up.

I feel like lint would get trapped in there.

The amount of physical material used in this application, doesn't make the weight anything significant. Testing this thing out on my iPhone 4 and now my 5 over the last 3 months, I'd say that if someone has an issue with the weight they most likely would be in a group that prefers to go caseless.

I actually had to weigh it to find out for you.

                        Roughly, 1.28oz or 35g.

And yes you can totally have one, and the cost is on the website. The Technik 4's are in stock and available for sale, and the Technik 5's are coming in February. If you are a 5er, fill out the contact form from the site and we'll let you know when it goes on sale.

I haven't experienced an issue with lint, but a bit of dust for sure. But cleaning your phone isn't a big pain. You use the provided bit to unscrew 4 screws from one plate. Take the plate off and slide the phone out. Clean it, put it back and screw the plate back on. 2-3 minutes and you are good to go for the next month or so.
