In the infant stages of transforming my room into a man cave. It's not a huge room, but decently sized. I've been sleeping on a twin to have more room for activities, but I want at least a queen size & a desk.
I've been looking into those bunk beds with space underneath for a desk or small couch.

My mancave is the shop, with a 12x15 private office, and another ~2500sq.ft. of disassembled e30's and a stereo hooked up to the computer to blast Spotify, and an old 27in. TV connected to stereo, constantly tuned to SPEED.Comment

Move outta Cali! I spend less than a third of what I spent on a 900sq.ft. studio in Pomona, CA on my whole shop per month here in Idaho.Comment

Yeah i know but im too mired in here to leave:( at least i bought my place in 2007 at its lowest and 300k cheaper than the previous owner.-ArtComment

So was I, that's why I got the F out in 2009. I lived in Claremont, CA and our house went from $829,000 in 2004 to $518,000 when we packed up and left. Ended up getting a ~20 acre ranch on the Snake River for less than half of what the house ended up selling for. Sometimes ya just gotta cut your losses and run to greener pastures.
Best decision I've made in my entire life. I'm happier and less stressed than my best day in California!Comment

I can't blame you one bit. But since I bought low and I actually owe less than what the house is worth i'll stay put. Both my wife and I are doing pretty well so leaving our jobs is out of the question.
If I was a businessmen/mechanical engineer such as yourself i'd leave and open up a shop somewhere else. If I wasn't in love with my place of work I wouldn't bother staying out here.
Many of my friends who bought houses when it was high are all broke as a joke and already lost their houses.. I waited a bit then bought when it crashed.
For half the cost and four times the size I can buy a house out in Houston Texas for the same price as mine... perhaps even less.-ArtComment

Because it makes you feel so manly.
Maybe people aren't posting a shit ton of pictures like other picture threads because they feel as though they don't need to have one designated space to call a "man cave". Maybe they are "manly" enough to be comfortable in their whole damn house. I feel bad for people who feel like they need to have a "man cave". Is your wife/family life that bad? Of course, society does also tell you that if you are married, you should have a "man cave" in order to be a "man". :)Last edited by JBird; 01-23-2013, 07:52 PM.
"The Camry is an appliance, not a car. It attracts folks who have the same regard for driving that they have for washing dishes,
i.e. it's a necessary but somewhat unpleasant chore and they want something to make the task a little easier and insulate them from the process." - my friend, Número VeintiséisComment

That took more posts than I thought it would, but yep, there it is. It never fails that someone always has to come in and shit in someone else's Cheerios on something they like and/or are proud of.Because it makes you feel so manly.

MY room in my house is just my office. I have my computers set up in there, all my posters up on the walls, my toys/collectibles/action figures/etc up all over the place, my Eames lounge chair, and my bookshelves. The rest of my house is just fine, I enjoy the whole house. But this room is my office, where all my cool stuff is, where I come to listen to music and watch videos/movies, where I do my work, where I just decompress and hang out. I don't go there to escape my family, it's just my room where I like to be sometimes.
Did it ever occur to you that not EVERYONE has to share the same point of view on this as you? Are you really up on that high of a soapbox that you have to come in here and start hate-pissing on a thread that you don't even plan on contributing to? Seriously, what bigger waste of time can you come up with?
There can be no better explanation of the thought process that lead to your post in this thread than "Oh look there, a thread about something I think is stupid! Let's see... I could just move on to the next thread, but that's just plain no fun at all. I'm going to open it up, read through it, and then drop a big steaming deuce right at the tail end of it. Why? Oh, for no good reason, really. I just thought I'd call people out on their "manliness", maybe throw in a crack about them not liking their family, and shit on the idea of someone having a place they like to designate as their own, a place to relax and hang out. By golly, this sounds like such a naughty caprice."
