A good salesperson will have to look at that along with your foot. Plan on spending a couple hours getting fitted so, best to go during non-busy hours.

In the early 00's I got fitted for some Saucony Grid Stabil's. Ever since then I've been wearing them (of the variation of them) in other brands. Gotta admit, runnign has never been this comfy and pain-free in my life!

When your feet are comfy, you'll be amazed at how far and fast you'll become.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Definitely go to a running specific store, not a sports store.

I would say get free runs. I've owned a few pairs. They are the only running shoes I've worked out in that haven't left my feet aching afterwards. They weigh next to nothing, great flexability, plenty of cushion for comfort, and they have great feel of the surface your running on. My only complain is they ware out pretty fast or maybe I'm just hard on shoes.

I just couldn't run in them ahaha they are beat up but the flat foot stuff is sketchy,i wear for looks mainly. I think imma pick up some free runs at planet hollywood, my friend works at the foot locker ;)
I ran at a park close to my house its called legg lake or something like that. I would go everyday and run the whole park about 1. something miles but sometimes I would do it twice. I would wear my eras to play basketball as well. Yeah im gonna pick up some free runs myself.

For all you mother flippers suggesting Nike Free Runs as running shoes

            STOP

Nike Free Runs are horrible traditional running shoes for this reason. THEY'RE FLATS. They have no arch support whatsoever. Free Runs we're designed to be walking/gym shoes that targeted a specific group of muscles for advanced runners that are normally not worked with regular running shoes. Coupled with the fact that absorption is low, you'll get shoes that will kill your knees on a micro level with every stride

That being said, I run in my Free Runs all the time. However, to properly run in Free Runs, you have to run on your toes. They are not traditional heel-toe strike runner's shoes. They are toe strike flat foot shoes designed to target calves and outer hamstring

Like everyone else has said go into a running store and have them look at your worn out shoes and they can tell. My brother in law is Air Force and knows the pronate tests and all that for looking at shoe designs. The ones that suited me best were the Huaraches.... so damn comfortable and super lightweight.

go to a running speacialty store ABSOLUTELY.

I'm a heavier guy (6'2 230lbs) and have a wider foot...I do pronate slightly, and I need a neutral shoe with LOTS of forefoot cushioning...

I'm on my 3rd pair of Nike Air MaxMoto+'s.

they're awesome for me, yet maybe not for you...

what I like about them is the have the Nike+chip you insert in them, track your runs with your iPhone.

                radness extraordinaire.

                    New Balance Minumus /thread

Seriously tho, like what JinormusJ is saying you have to see if it's right for you, it's more natural to run on your toes and better for you. I tell you, try out the Minumus if you can, they changed everything about my running in a good way.. no more shin pain, no more ankle pain... nothing but goodness.

I bought Nike Free Runs from a Sport Chalet about 2 years ago, then went with a friend to a specialty running store when he wanted to buy some running shoes. Asked the expert there what he thought about my Free Runs cause he seemed like he knew his business (at this point I was running in them for about a year) and gave me the run down: pretty much told me that if I bought them for running, I got shafted by the Sport Chalet salesman who told me a lot of BS information to get a sale; then he told me their real application. Told the guy that I developed a toe-strike running affinity after running in velcro strap Vans (you heard me right) for almost 2 and 1/2 years and was kinda surprised to hear how long I was running in them without issue. Pretty much told me I'd be fine running in the Free Runs since I run on my toes and thats what their designed for.

That being said, the new Free Runs suck compared to the old ones. Tried a pair on and hated them, but I guess that's just cause I've grown so used to my old ones (I have the OG Free Run+ 1.0, not the 2.0 or whichever ones they have now). They're great shoes, but you just have to run proper in them. You can always start running on your toes as well: Free Runs would be your number one choice if you do. Its not some freakish genetic thing you can't change.

                          Nike Freeruns = shit

If you're serious about running, avoid overhyped fashion bullshit sneakers. Get some real running shoes.

For me, Saucony fits best. Adidas and Asics are a close second. Nike and New Balance don't fit right for me.

I'm a huge fan of Brooks and Saucony as a runner-up. Brooks last and wear best...I've got hundreds of miles on my current pair and they are still going strong.

I've found some really great deals here:

I just got these a few weeks ago

Free shipping BOTH ways on brooks adrenaline gts 13 black shadow silver 1 from our vast selection of styles. Fast delivery, and 24/7/365 real-person service with a smile. Click or call 800-927-7671.

These are real running shoes with appropriate cushioning and arch support for running. And they are great for people with slight over pronation. I tried on 4 different running shoes including asics and saucony's newest ones at a running store and ran with them on their treadmill and these were the best feeling. I also like how they are all black.

Besides fit, keep in mind what kind of distance and environment you are working with. I am currently using the Brooks Ghost 4 and they are great.

Other people's recommendations mean nothing, though. Go get fitted by people who know what they are looking for.
