    V8 Supercars Austin

So you may have seen my previous thread between V8SC and Top Gear Uk... I didn't win the lottery for Top Gear Tix.

So, Going to V8SC at Circuit of the Americas in May. Me and my friend will be in town from the 16-20th. Besides going to the race, what other things should we check out while we're there. Thursday, Sunday, and nights after the race should be open.

Also, we have a hotel at the Wyndham Garden Austin, right off I-35. Can we use mass transit that whole time to get to downtown and other attractions, or should we look into getting a rental car?

    More importantly, anyone else going?

I might be going. My brother will be working in Milwaulkee so we're planning to meet up in Austin for the race or road trip down.

Whats the feeling in Aus about the Texas 400? Good/Bad/Indifferent?

Bottom line is it's good for the sport. We need more exposure or it'll collapse- I think most fans see it that way now. Nissan and Mercedes are competing this year as well to help keep Supercars afloat. That is more of a problem to the more purist supporters (bogans) than taking the sport offshore.

I think it's cool. An Aussie racing series in the US and Dubai is very exciting.

Should be a good show. With the new car being more spec, it maaaay translate better to the NASCAR crowd, even though most probably won't have no love for any Furiners.

Looked at the cost for race tix in Australia, good god! $300-500 for a GA ticket, where in Austin its $90-200 for Reserved seating.

Any good storylines going into 2013 for V8SC? I've watched the races on Speed and enjoyed the entertainment, can't say I'm an avid follower however.
