tell me about Petaluma and San Rafael

what's up bay area/Cali r3vers. I'm looking for general opinions, complaints, praise, warnings, an maybe some tips on cool places to go (or places to avoid) in these two towns.

my aunt is moving to California very soon and will be working in Santa Rosa. with her career and station in life, finances will not be an issue.

we're just looking for opinions on the areas! also, she want to be south of Santa Rosa because she travels a lot for work and needs to be closer to the international airport.

    thanks r3v!

I love Petaluma, born and raised. Relatively small, quaint little town, nice living conditions, no traffic problems, reasonably priced (quality) housing, etc. San Rafael has a higher cost of living being in Marin County so you'd get more "bang for your buck" in Sonoma County, but I couldn't see either one being a bad decision. I'd choose Petaluma over San Rafael IMO.
