    that would actually be pretty freaking sweet i just need to know what parts are compatable is my main reason for not buying so easily. but regardless if i could do that eGPU how did you do yours?

      ...I'm confused by this sentence. Did you want recommendations on a desktop, or are you looking for details on my external GPU setups? If its the first option, I need a budget, or at least a range.

        i spent just under $900 for this 2 years ago:

        2 Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 6.0Gb/s hard drives
        XFX Radeon HD 6870 video card
        G.SKILL Sniper 16GB DDR3 1600 RAM
        GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 mother board
        AMD Phenom II 1100T 6-core 3.3ghz processor
        Corsair 750w power supply

        runs BF3 on ultra settings in 1080p at 85fps
        planetside 2 maxed out at 99fps




        i do have a crappy toshiba satelite from 06-07 (not sure when i bought it) that could use a graphics boost, it struggles with CS source...
