Anyone ever done a "Drive a supercar at the track" thing?

I'm headed to Vegas for my friend's bachelor party in a month and we're doing this: http://www.exoticsracing.com/

Any r3vers done it before? What was it like? The one car on their site I truly would give a testicle for is the Lambo Aventador, but at $100/lap it's twice the price of many other cars including the GT-R, Gallardo, Merc SLS, AM Vantage, and Audi R8. Quality > Quantity? or no? Looking for some insite from anyone who's done it before.

There is a similar program here that runs at Atlanta Motorsports Park that I was looking into. I was turned off by the fact that one of the laps that I pay for was a ride along lap, then if I wanted to be able to drive the car fast I would have to buy a huge insurance policy. So the price I would pay to waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles foot a Ferrari around a track ends up being about the same as an entire track weekend. So I said fuck it.

The one at LV looks like it is run a lot better than that though. Insurance is included... I say go rip the Aventador a new one

I instructed at a similar event. Basically the thing you have to keep in mind is that the event is likely geared towards letting you drive a Ferrari around a track, not letting you drive one at race speeds or slide it around. If you have a lot of driving experience and want to really flog one and see what your laptimes are, you may be disappointed--they will let you floor it down the straights but when it comes to corners you may be told to slow down. The event I instructed at, paddle shifting wasn't even allowed.

That said, it's still fun to rail on these things down the straights and the instructors may loosen the reins if they see you know what you're doing. 700hp V12 will really press you into your seat.

That looks pretty cool. There are a few places in Vegas that you can rent exotics. For my friend's bachelor party we are thinking about renting 2-3 of them and making a run down to the grand canyon or lake Havasu. It is pretty damn expensive ($1700/day for a 458), but if you had two drivers per car, it is doable. Mile limitations are kind of a drag though.

I'm wondering though... do they have the ECU's in some sort of de-tuned "valet mode" or something similar? I wouldn't even consider renting them if they are tamed down... in that case you'd basically be renting the car so you can cruise the strip and have people see you in the car.

My father and I did that exact company for my 20th birthday. I drove the LP560 an GTR and my father did the r8 and LP560. It is fun, and the instructors defintely let you "mess" around more if you appear more mature and experienced.

The instuctor allowed me to throw the gtr around a LOT. Sideways coming out of the corner.

For the price, I really don't think I would be satisfied and I would leave depressed dying for more.
But I can't speak because I've never done it.

Exactly my reason for not doing it. For the price of three laps in a Ferrari I can drive the doors off of my E30 all weekend. Kind of a no brainer if that's what you want.

But if you just want to say you've driven a supercar flat out on a track then it fits the bill. It's on my to-do list, but at 19yo it is kind of hard to be taken seriously enough to drive the cars how i want... lulz

because I did the exotics racing, I was chosen to test out the 2013 Cadilac CTS V-specc balls out on the track for 4 hours at firebird Int'l Raceway

I haven't done it, I've been wanting to. There is another one Extreme something that travels around. That one is supposedly sucky.

The one in Vegas seems cool $500 for 5 laps in a Ferrari 458 and that includes wear and tear, insurance, etc.

Please do it and let us know! We are going back to Vegas next and I'm already planning on $1k+ for Exotics racing. But if it isn't worth it, that's like 8 track days and brakes.

                          Exotics

I did 7 laps in a gallardo at this place. I had a blast, and the instructor let me push it pretty good. All paddle shifter cars.

wow, great responses! It sounds like this outfit may actually let me have a bit of fun if if I can prove to them I'm not a total d-bag (maybe show them my LeMons license? lol). Just thinking about the Aventador is getting my man bits all tingly.

I've seen this a couple times and thought it would be cool to do! too bad college student on college budget = not happening for some time. In my opinion its kind of one of those "once in a lifetime" opportunities so I would probably do it.
If you are going to think of it in relation to your e30, don't. Completely different ballfield, like when I think of how many tanks of gas I could have bought instead of buying coilovers or something, ya know?
And for the record, I wouldn't suggest driving the sls if you are over 5'10". I drive valet at a high class country club during the summer and drive a member's sls almost every day. at 6 foot and the seat all the way back, it is extremely claustrophobic, very tight, not made for a taller person. other than that, I have driven all of the other cars except the lambo and mclaren. Out of the group, I highly suggest the 458, its a blast to drive and an insane car. just figured I would throw my 2 cents out there, good luck!
