    Buying an E30 in Spain.

Going to Spain Jan 2014 to May 2014, staying in Salamanca. Curious about buying a 316i (cheapest E30 that pops up around there it seems) for the duration there.
For those who live in Spain/ registered a car in Spain,
Is it worth buying/registering a car in Spain for a 5 month stay?
Is it difficult to register a car as a visitor with no visa?
Anything to worry about/ miscellaneous costs? I know some European countries have some type of Road Tax?

    Thanks :)

Contact the Spanish consulate nearest to you or the US embassy in Madrid, they will be able to fill in all the blanks.

You will probably need at to get an NIE; a residence certificate; a padron cert; Spanish license (makes life much easier) or check to see if there is a reciprocity agreement between your state and SP and a medical check to get said license if going that route; and a Spanish bank acct so you can buy & register the car.

I might be missing steps here, but that is a good start. Research and decide if the costs are worth it (probably IMHO if you are going to travel).

Good luck, and you are doing it wrong if you don't go to Italy and get a E30 320.

^ guessing you mean the 320iS? It's not that easy to get a hold of one, and it's definately not cheap.

If you buy a car in Spain, I'll buy it off you when you are going back.

      Unless it's shit

        ^yes, and was joke...

Nothing wrong with the 316, especially with an odd colored interior that we didn't get here.

Still, it would be a great chance to get a 205GTI or similar!
