Getting from JFK to Newark

Hey guys,

Having not visited the great state of New York before, what is the best way to get across to Newark to catch my next flight? I've got 5 hrs to get there (not including check in times).

There's a bus, see JFK to Newark Liberty section here. Or, get Levent to give you a ride, i'm sure he's got some sort of neat car to do that in.

JFK Airtrain to Jamaica Station, Take LIRR from Jamaica Station to Penn Station, then pickup the NJ Transit train from Penn Station out to EWR (Newark).
Fastest way to go. Least stress. Least expensive. No traffic to deal with. Probably take 1 hour and a half, because you have to switch trains twice and depending on schedules.

• AirTran to Jamaica/Sutphin Blvd
• LIRR or E-Train to NY Penn Station
• NJ Transit to Newark Airport

There's also a bus to Newark, but if you get caught in traffic you're dead.

Dont recall exactly been a while since I lived up north ..


however depending on the time... I would just take a taxi from JFK to newark.. it would prob take like 2 hours without traffic... like an hour to get into jersey and then 30-45 mins to Newark intl. .. itl prob be like $100.. though... dont recall prices. Scenery is good if you have never been the empire state lol... driving to newark through jersey is nice as well.. Nice Skyline. Upstate NY is nice mountains/ hills .. too. amazing contrast in scenery.


If there is traffic... your best bet is to jump on the nearest path train... however that is a whole nother dilemma.

Be carefull in Newark... Probably the scariest city I've been in to say the least...

Don't know wtf that last post was. But basically the cheapest: air train to Howard Beach subway stop; The "A" subway train to Penn Station, then switch to Newark bus. This is cheaper than the train in from Jamaica, Queens to Manhattan.

Not sure why you guys keep posting answers, he clearly said in his OP (March 29th) his next flight was in 5 hours....
