Interviewing for a sales position in a couple hours

I've got an interview at a local dealership for an entry level sales position in a couple hours. Anybody work in sales? What can/should I say that will help me secure this job?

As far as on-the-job experiences, what can I expect? I know the basics of car sales, but that's about it.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

I've never sold cars, but you wanna emphasize that you believe selling is basically a numbers game... you're organized, keep track of all your selling stats (leads, pitches, closes) and are confident that you're going to work all the time improving all your stats,

and also that you view problem-solving (whatever that entails) as a real selling opportunity.

As a final come on, it always helps to say, "And... I know how to ask for the order!" (which pays better than, "would you like fries with that" ...i've tried it both ways)

The "I could talk a coyote off a meat-wagon" stuff is kind of old hat, but then again, I've never sold cars.

Ideally, people wanna buy stuff from people like... themselves: smart, organized, experienced folks who recognize a good value and will pay for it.

Also if they ask you why are you are there, be honest. "To make money."

Well I just got back from my interview... I didn't kiss ass, just dressed up nice and "business casual," walked in, went through all the questions, and pretty much have the job. Here's where you guys start hating me.

It's an entry-level sales job at the local Dodge dealership. If you ever want an SRT-4, Magnum, or Viper, come talk to me. :)

He said the last entry-level salesperson he hired just closed out a $60k year, and is looking to double that this year, though, so I'm VERY excited about the work. The BMW dealership is minutes down the road, so I can always go drool over the pair of M5s in the showroom on lunch.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

              Ha!

I'm sure the entry-level fishes get all the viper & magnum sales ;)

Get me a line on a Sprinter. Cargo, 118 wheelbase, regular roof height with the tow pack & rear windows.

Hey, there's always room for wishful thinking.

As for your van, I'll get to work on that as soon as I actually go to work. :)

Aight... what do you want a van for?

EDIT: Total comes to $29,884... I'll see what I can dig up after a few days. I don't want to give the wrong impression by trying to get deals for everyone on my first day.
