How many is lips have you lost?

I made a splitter out of 3/16" abs and ran it on the bottom of my IS lip the whole time I had it. It was thick enough to absorb impacts, and I put brand new clips on with the lip which also helped. Never had an issue in 5 years of ownership and it came off and was run over several times.

Do lip splitters really make that much of a difference? As far as absorbing impacts and keeping it from tearing off?

None. I did have an i lip before. Dunno if i smashed it somewhere or was stolen.
I wouldn't doubt the latter since somebody tried to steal my trunk lip.
