When looking for a terrorist/bomber or someone thats as largely wanted as he was, would you not want them searching every house no questions asked. Had they given the option and it turned out one house was helping him hide that would make it worse

I'll try and find it. I think I saw it on local news in an interview with a runner from here, who said he's been to many marathons and never seen so much security etc.
The attack excercise stuff was supposedly announced through megaphones? before the marathon.

University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

“They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it’s just a training exercise,” Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15.

Stevenson said he saw law enforcement spotters on the roofs at the start of the race. He’s been in plenty of marathons in Chicago, D.C., Chicago, London and other major metropolitan areas but has never seen that level of security before.

I've also read a hospital 1 hour away from West, TX was doing a "mass casualty" on the same day, same I've heard about multiple other attacks, but I've seen a credible source.
