I can attest to how light BBS Motorsport race wheels are. 16x8 BBS e50 wheels were around 12-13 pounds each. I checked before I sold them. Some punk kid is going to have them redrilled to fit his VW Scirroco. Such a shame.

this thread is full of the gheyz

I'm not sure if you've noticed, it's 2013. Or nearly 30 years since the RS's hit the streets.

They are heavy, bend easily (compared to purpose built cast wheels), almost never fit any kind of BBK without spacers.

They look great and are period correct, but they are hardly the best option for a performance wheel these days.

I've always been a fan of 5-spoke wheels personally.

It's simple. They look the best. Although any different color center has always bothered me.

More importantly, does anyone else find the OP generally insufferable?

I didn't know that. I've never owned either but I always prefer the look of RMs for some reason.

I think because the faces look flatter.

    Textbook execution of E30.

    Alpine White Paint.
    Coupe.
Coilovers, or ultra low spring set, or chopped springs.
    Rolled Fenders.
    iS lip.
    BBS RS's or Reps.

Seen it done SO many times, I agree with you. It's a great look, don't get me wrong, it's been tried and true. I dont' see the point in spending all that dough to look like all the other "top dogs".

    boring.
    Mr. Burns OUT.
I have to agree. The overabundance of adaptor-ed Style 5s, ESMs, and gaudy redrilled RSxxx are the reason I haven't gone back in the 16" wheel thread for a while now.

I was never too crazy about BBS RS wheels. Not because of the design (even though they are hard to clean) but because people tended to neglect cleaning them back in the day and they were often dirty and corroded. People put them on everything too. However, today there is a new appreciation for them so people are redrilling, refinishing and China is making pretty good copies of them. They have become like jewelry for the car. I don't believe in spending crazy money on wheels so I went with style 5's and refinished them. Truth be told, RS/style 5's weren't really played out until the 4 lug guys Honda/VW, 4 lug E30 and E36 guys got their hands on them. Now it's like open season thanks to fill/drill/adapters. With all that said, BBS RS is the period correct wheel for 80's BMW's though and they look awesome. It's kinda funny seeing the bimmerforums guys put them on E36's and E90's.
