    Everlast/eastwood/longevity Tig or multi welders

    Who has one?
I went to pick up a miller econo tig for my first personal machine for $800. When I talked to the guy and told him It's my first personal rig he immediately stopped me and said don't even waste your time buying a used Miller/lincoln. He started raving about the everlast tig and multi purpose welders. Saying how cheap and great they are. He showed me his which he had sitting on top of his Miller watercooled tig setup lol.
I must say it's pretty neat and the features it comes with are great. He smiled the whole time and ended with, "This little welder paid for itself through the savings on my light bill"

So who here has one? I remember a thread by jaywood saying he wanted one.
Any leads on what distributor to get one from sub $1000?

From someone in the welding industry I would stick with blue red or yellow box machines personally

I'd love to get a cheap TIG. Right now I'm using a friend's MIG. It's alright, but TIG is just the best thing since sliced bread.

      In for info.

Lol. There is very little differance between hobarts and the millers, other than the case and the box its shipped in

I have an everlast powerpro (tig, stick, and plasma all-in-one) and I love it. I learned how to tig on this machine and I have had no issues. Derek at DMS has the same welder and does all of his exhaust work with it. Check out the everlast subforums on some of the welding forums. Lots of guys love them. They have good customer service as well.

Check out the youtube channel: weldingtipsandtricks. He has some informative videos on the Everlast machines.

i have never heard of that welder matt. i guess that isn't to say that it isn't any good. my tig is a miller and i think it is awesome. but it has its limitations. mainly portability. 220v 80amp input makes for 310 amp output. unfortunately, it weighs over 300 pounds. its a good machine though and would buy one again if the need arose.

as far as the model you mention, do research on it and talk to others that use them. if it checks out, then buy it. just do me a favor and don't buy a Chinese knockoff from harbor freight.

I just bought a Thermal Arc 95S DC-only TIG unit a few months ago. It being a DC only, 95 amp capable machine, I don't plan on doing anything heavy with it. It's small, lightweight (about 10lbs) and it fit my budget. I bought it for building stuff for my R/C addiction. I'm sure I'll find something else to weld up with it at some point. Once I can get a place with a decent size shop, then I'll look into a larger AC/DC capable machine.

I wish it were portable so I can borrow it! lol.
Nah man, no more harbor freight mess. I have a mig from them and its ok for spot welding and quick repairs. It'll be a great compliment to a tig setup.

AC/DC . Gotta be able to touch alu. Looking for a decent square wave and pulse function as well for those pretty beads.

For the price of dc only rigs you might as well wait or save a little longer and snag an AC/DC which is what I'm doing now ha

I have read some good things about the Everlast machines on WeldingWeb.
I plan on picking one up. They go on sale on Amazon frequently for around $900.
You could go Miller or Lincoln but they are more expensive and will come with less features (no foot pedal for the cheap models).

I have a "cheap" no name ebay ac/dc tig/plasma/stick. It works great...arc is very stable, starts clean, pulse works great.

I have tested the stick and plasma and they work great too but it is used as a tig to weld stainless 99% of the time. I really want to spend some time working with aluminum eventually.

A buddy of mine has a similar unit that he uses only for AC/aluminum. Zero issues.

I've got a little over $600 in my setup, you can't touch a decent AC/DC unit for that, plus I rent my townhouse and I don't have 220v/240v in the garage, not going to pay to have it put in either. I don't need the AC capabilities quite yet. If I had the power in the garage already, for sure I would've tried finding a unit.

the features are important. my machine was built in the early eighties so it lacks most of the fancy features. square wave and pulse would be nice. one feature i really miss is arc balance. it is nice to adjust the penetration for certain aluminum materials. also it is good if the aluminum you are welding is dirty.
