the wireless networking problem is the last paragraph if you dont want to read the other stuff
I got a special sony wireless card, got a smokin deal on it too.
this is a wireless B card that sold for $100
this is a wireless a/b/g card i just got for 39.99 buy it now. LIsting had only been going for like an hour
anyways, i go to put it in, and it wont go quite all the way in. I go and check my moms computer and it goes in fine. I thought maybe it just needed a little more force, but i still couldnt get it in. So i go to put my old one back in and the computer freezes. yeah, i guess i tried to hard to put the sony one back in. Well i decided to take it apart, since i pretty much thought the whole thing was destroyed anyways. After taking it apart as much as one can, I noticed that some of the pins for the card were pushed back. Using a screw driver, i was able to push them back in. I bent one of them, but who cares, it beats a new mother board! which would be impossible to get for this model.
That being said, I still cant connect to the internet with the card. I was able to put it in fine and it installed fine but it just shows up as local area connection 3 and it has the little x on the icon because it cant connect. the old one shows up as local area connection and it works fine. any ideas? I'm running windows 2000
here are some pics
