Merkur + Derby stainless blades + shave secret oil = actually looking forward to shaving. -
Blade that came with mine lasted 2 months, however the one I just replaced it with lasted a month and is cutting terrible. A month is decent longevity in my opinion though. Not bitching just keeping up with it on here due time stamped postLeave a comment:

These look real nice.
Question though: Is there a blade on the opposite side of the main razors? I like how the gillette Fusion pro-glide, quad blade (insert more adjectives here) refills have that single blade so i can trim along my jawline.
I usually just shave my neck and trim my facebeard. The single razor on the backend is really nice to trim a line along my jaw.
Seems like a great product thoughLeave a comment:

Im not a fan of the job but as a ART (Air reserve technician) you are basically active duty, as in working on base uill time, but in a civilian status. $20+/hr and great benefits. As a 21yr old with out a degree in my area its very good.. plus you had have all the bullshit that you deal with active duty. Small base, everyone gets along with everyoneLast edited by emerson.; 09-15-2013, 09:59 AM.Leave a comment:

Metals tech would be the one maintenance job I think I'd like. Have you seen how crew chiefs get treated? Almost worse than cops!Leave a comment:

For the merkur crew, as someone that has been using a safety razor for a long time -- seek out feather blades from Japan. They make scalpel blades that my physician friends swear by. ebay is where to find them. The normal safety blades you buy at walgreens suck. Merkur makes a nice razor, but horrible blades.
If you're really a blade snob, seek out swedish gillettes.
If you want a cheap cream setup, find the omega setola (bristle) brush and cream. You dont need silvertip badger if you're just trying things out. http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...k=g&matchtype=
I have a vintage henckels straight blade and all the stropping business that goes with it. If you buy a vintage straight blade, spend the 15$ to send it to a hone-meister to put a proper edge on it BEFORE you go stropping around like a cartoon. Straight blades aren't necessarily as scary as you might think, but they take an incredible amount of practice to get a decent shave out of them. The safety razor is much, much easier. If you go to the badger and blade forums, you'll read about a lot of guys who start out with straight blades, but have to finish with a safety because their technique hasn't been refined.
Just wait till you try your first coup de maitre.Leave a comment:

2 months on the same blade and it was still cutting fine. Changed it to see what a new one felt like. Shaved better but the other shaved fine as well. Best change I have made!Leave a comment:

anyways, mine works amazing and I havent noticed any change in the way the blade cuts since I got it. I have cut myself with it though, but that me just being careless while rushing to get ready for work.Leave a comment:
