Havent owned one, but have driven them.

Liked it very much. I guess the small boxness appeals to my eyes.

Although it lacked guts it felt smooth and easy driving a stick shift. And It's just so roomy.

An ex-girlfriend I had owned one and I drove it quite a bit. I like them, but they are SLOW. 1.5l FTL. Got excellent gas mileage though. Josh and I showed up to the e30 picnic in it one year. lol

I always wanted to see one chopped and sectioned with an overall height of like 4ft. Could be pretty badass.

Great room, comfortable for long trips, great resale. Very reliable.

I didn't like the solid rear axle. It bucks over expansion joints in the highway. Great commuter though! The rear bumper apron comes off too easily.

Drove my inlaws all over the Blue Ridge Mountains one day to show them around. Neither had back pains, very comfortable. Up and down the mountains all day and back home, averaged 35mpg. Buddy of mine is 6'6", only compact car he has felt normal in (headroom).

Not an owner, but I use one two or three times a week as a company car.

Turning radius is my biggest gripe. Quite annoying that such a small car has such a slow rack and such a large turning circle.

Three other gripes, the ride is not good on higways, short WB + short travel suspension = lots of whumping; the hatch opening is just odd with the hatch only opening to horizontal, why not make it 10 degrees or a two part lift glass and drop gate; the automatic is awful, very slow to shift, dangerously so even when you need that lower gear to make a quick pass.

Other than that it's a nice city car with enough storage and not bad looks or material quality for the price. It has had a couple of electrical issues with the door closed switches not understanding the door is closed and either draining the battery or leaving the indicator lit on the dash.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. ;) If I were to get one it would definitely be stick shift.

                      Oh and FredK, lol!

a friend of mine bought one new, he loved it. he had the 5-spd, and it wasn't quick but it could pass 110mph on the highway. he ended up selling it after 45k or so because he wanted a car with a warranty. (toyota only gave the xb a 3yr/36k warranty).

no mechanical or electrical issues, but i should hope not with less than 50k miles on it.

Typically a Toyota 4 cylinder vehicle just needs gas and oil changes and it will pretty much go forever!

I really need something normal for commuting to work. Something I won't mod!

It's not going to happen right away but it'll happen.

I don't think you need to worry about me modding a Scion. Haha!
