    UTI students/alumni

Anyone either a current student or graduated student of one of the schools? Curiosity has struck me, I got a letter in the mail today about a campus tour/information session, so I figured I'd ask around and see how the experience was.

How well are the programs organized? How is the work-study program? If you go to/went to the Mooresville, NC campus, how was housing? Easy to find?

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

my buddies go to UTI in Exton, PA. i think they like it, but for the money its not really worth it IMO. my college offers really good programs for the money in comparison. also they cant find jobs very easily and it seems like alot of school/work without any fun or "college experience"

I went to UTI in glendal hights IL(chicago), it was the best thing I have ever done.

I also went to BMW STEP in arizona.

Set aside anything that distracts you during your schooling, and do the best you possibly can.

I sucked at High school but at UTI I did very well, got into STEP(BMW factory traing school) and had a job at a great dealer befor I graduated.

Currently I have been working for 3.5 years make great money, have 4 e30s
and a snowmobile. Get to work on great cars(06 M5 last week) and peform
highly technical jobs(just finished replacing the valvetronic levers and shafts on a 545i).

Kick as much ass as you can at school(tests not students) it will pay off later.

Just some detail of how I did:
        3.7gpa (2.1 in high school)
Perfect attendance(maxed out my absent days in high school)
        I ticket on my record.
all while going to school full time and working 38 hours a week.
I had no life but like I said it all payed off

Note: my sister spent 5 years at a private college with a double major.
She has put in 6 years at her job and I made 12grand more than her in 05.

"They" most likely did not go to a grad program like STEP because everyone
in my 12 person class had a job befor they graduated, basicly if you dont do
somthing stupid like a dwi you will have a job.

The best part is STEP was free, you just have to be accepted. My dealer
payed 8 grand just to higher me and bmw payed the other 8 grand.

I've got five friends that graduated from UTI.
I've also got four friends that are currently going to UTI in California near Irwindale.

NINE agree that UTI is no longer feasible to attend. Because of the high cost and the five say that it's hard to find a high paying job that would be worth going to UTI for.

One graduate, my buddy, got a good job at a dealership where my friend's dad is the GM. He's got it made. But he STILL insists that it's no longer worth going to UTI.

Ha, A_325i now goes there (in Florida) but got kicked off the forum for being a huge dumbass.

UTI works for some people, but isn't worth the money for others. If you're planning on being a dealer tech (especially BMW) it's not worth paying so much money for 4 years to spend a lot of time doing things that you'll never do again in a professional career. Ex.: dealerships don't build hotrods.

I'm actually looking into going to UTI after I get my ASE certification at a local community college. Looks like a great school.

We have 7 guys at the bmw dealer i work at and all make 50-80 grand a year depending on how fast the individual works. Keep in mind we are located in minneapolis so the cost of living is lower than say so-cal.

I live very comfortiblely on my pay.
