Format Paint files

I searched for it but I couldn't find it. Anyone know how to take a picture that was saved as a paint file to another format so I can post it in a thread? It won't go into any other program and turn into a valid file.

Open the image in paint, select all (ctrl+a), copy (ctrl+c).
Open a better program, paste, save as a better format.

I'm sure you can find a converter on google or download.com if you bothered to look...
