Would insurance cover such a modification malfunctioning?
I doubt it, unless it was declared to them, which there is very little chance of. I read that story on Jalopnik a couple weeks ago or so. It was chalked up to heat+lack of a functioning vent.

Also, how does TX law look on having a pressurized container like that in a car?
As long as the engine is OK, I don't see why it wouldn't be, he should be able to grab another Fox body for a couple grand and swap everything over, but still not a fun position to be in.
