Saw some one posted about c4 vettes a few posts ago. Anybody have experience tracking them? I like the 80's styling, ability to run crazy track meat with stock fenders, how cheap they are now, plus from what I understand its a good mix of amurican muscle and a racing oriented suspension, and I have a very close family friend who is a fanatic(but he doesn't track it so he can't really speak to this).
So yea I wana build one but don't know how it really compares to a little e30 feel wise.Leave a comment:

FC RX7 convertible is a damn good handler as well. Hard top not so much, the tons of extra framing and the ginormous brakes make the vert so much better tighter.
But a well sorted e30 is tough to beat. They just feel like go-carts. Sure there's cars that handle better, but even a slow e30 is fun to drive.
Mitsubishi Starion...my first and one of my favorite cars......handle very well but are very unpredictable. Never know when the rear end is going to slide out, the e30s...even when they do break loose are very easy to control.
As for which one would be faster around a track, that's a hard tell. But handling is more based on the driver, anyway.
I've surprised a lot of people with my Dodge Ram in the twisties, sticking right with their Acuras with full coilovers, huge sway bars, and such. Not saying I'm a racecar driver, but I can handle a vehicle once I feel comfortable with it.
Plus turning is a lot more than just spinning the wheel, throttle control, braking, weight transfer and using body movements to your advantage...etc are all things that need to be learned before any car will handle well.Leave a comment:

Holland, we should hang out more. I've got some Initial D books here if that would influence your decision.Leave a comment:

This, this and this.OK, there, Fernando Alonso.
Why is everyone on R3v convinced they are a racecar driver? Take an Integra Type R and an E30 M3, give them to a real driver. Say someone at the Auto-x Nat. runoffs, then we'll see if FWD cars are really *OH GOD understeer noseheavy slow ricer PIGS OF CARS*
You guys really make me laugh until I'm almost ready to rage when you whine on about how E30's are the best cars of all time and that all of it's atributes are the only way to build a good car. Are they great cars for a number of reasons? Hell yes! Are there better cars at similar prices? Probably. God you're all like the kid who is convinced he's going to marry his high school sweetheart even when he knows some other guy is balls deep in her.
A well sorted FWD car is a dangerous weapon and will almost always destroy the RWD competition. Some of the most enjoyable cars to see on the track are you guessed it, Civics and Integras.Leave a comment:

Personally I still love the BMW M3 e46 Race version. Really lovely car. That car particularly grows on you.Leave a comment:

Drove one of these yesterday, was kind of the same as an E30.. engine in front drive to back.. this was an autotragic

Obviously the E30 have superior handling and top-end performance and would leave that boat, which can't handle worth shit, around ANY track... but while driving I still got that.. E30 feel..
edit: also the E30 have much better brakes...Leave a comment:

How about matching Jag and Mercedes convertibles for ultimate his/her coke dealer status. The e30 trunk space is really limited compared to the bottomless hooker-pit of a jag vert.

Some good photos of the 80s here:

Also some good lists here, although a Miata in the top ten cars of all time is interesting.

IDK... I kind of agree with Roy. E30's are awesome, but they are not the best thing out there. And people need to be reminded of that. I think this is a good thread here, http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=162689Leave a comment:

^ last time I checked this is an e30 forum. We're supposed to be delusional about e30s here. If you don't like it, leave.Leave a comment:

OK, there, Fernando Alonso. :roll:I've had this conversation with several people, who try to convince me that front wheel drive cars can handle as well as rear wheel drive cars, ands a stupid argument if two cars have the same weight, motor, driver, every thing with the only difference being the setup of the drive train the rwd car will always tend to handle better , the weight is more spread out between the front and the back which means better balance, and because the power is going to the rear wheels you can use power to rotate the car around corners. its just the way it is
