I just got an HTC One, and you're damn right I'm putting a case on it. I use it too much during work not to. I don't go for the OtterBox-type of cases that make your phone look like a land mine, but I like some drop protection. The big rounded corners are amazing, I dropped my One S a couple times, and it just hit a couple corners, and landed flat.

I had a Ballistic on my One S, and it looked pretty good, and had killer drop protection:

I'll probably get the new Ballistic case for my One:

*EDIT* - I actually just picked this up for my phone at the local Sprint store, I was sold when they had one that wasn't black and didn't look like an IED. This case is fantastic.

I'm right there with you dude. When I forgot my phone I didn't have it in a case. Then I bought one and had it on for a couple months. Then one day I decided to take it off, and then I dropped it and cracked screen. Cost me $240 to get fixed. Now the case is on 24 /7 lol
Now mind you, I usually take really good care of my phones. I haven't broken a cell phone since I was in high school and had a Motorola flip phone.

My new HTC phone was more slippery than the one it replaced, so I got a cheap (~$8 ) silicon case off amazon. Now I also stash my credit card, drivers license, and some cash in the case

Iphone 4 here, dropped that sumabitch from waist height several times, just some scratches.

It did slip out of my pocket while I was sitting, and of course the smallest drop cracked the screen. Luckily it didn't spider-web, just a single crack horizontally across the screen. Could probably have been avoided with a case, but fuggit, that thing is due for replacement anyway.

I also use the back glass as a bottle opener, the corner of the back glass is cracked, but it still opens beer bottles like a boss
