Whoa. Toasted King's Hawaiian? Sounds pretty good mang!
Farmin, you make your own jams? Potato flavor? :D
TJ, by "local" I mean one of the places that the locals go to. From what I saw at Pat's and Geno's, it was mostly out-of-towners like me that were eating there. Maybe I'm used to the west coast style CS, but what they sold there (we bought from both places) was non-marinated / flavorless slabs of meat, cheese, and bread.
What's a Zep?
That is saying something right there.
I've been to a dozen places featured on DDD, and seems that most of those small places cannot handle the volume that ensues once thier restaraunt is featured on the show. The cut corners to meet the demand. Quality suffers but they don't care because there is an endless supply of foodies like myself who will try the place... they don't serve for repeat customers. Travel Channel et al produce the same effect.
B&J's, Philly's Best, the local places... they do it better than Pat'ss and Geno's.

I agree very much! Those places made a steak and cheese that tasted like rubber on stale bread. Worst philly steak I've had, in fact, I've had better at jerry's.
It's the small joints that have a real steak and cheese.Leave a comment:

I used to live a block away from both for a few months. To be honest, I had much better cheese steak at the Las Vegas airport than what either of those two tourist traps sold (cold greasy sandwiches). The pizza place on the other side of the park isn't horrible though.Leave a comment:

How are they not local?
I've only been to there once, Probably a decade ago now. When I'm down there my brother just grabs the zeps and steaks. I never complain.
Especially this time when I got a cheesesteak zep. That mofo was AWESOMELeave a comment:

How many PB&J aficionados here?
I make my own and buy them wherever available.
Sprouts sells huge ones at their deli counter for $1.99 :giggle:
Anyone improving (modding) on the tried and true PB&J?Tags: None
