    lol, i've only ridden it once. its all original and has been in my fiancee's family since it was new. it needs a full resto, but its all there.
    old bmws are cool, but they aren't the funnest bikes to ride. the brakes suck and they are slow, but you look so cool riding them, it doesn't matter. i had a 73 R75/5 for a few years and enjoyed it. they are cool bikes, but i only like them for shorter rides. modern bikes with disc brakes are just safer and more fun to ride.

        thats why I'm thinking about a norton. pretty darn fast, for their time, and front discs. i can't remember the name of the bike im talking about (i dont think its the commando) but it looks like a cross between this

        and this

        but I was browsing for pics of it and came across this!!!

        SO COOL. kind of a cross between a commando and a duc monster. only I've never ridden a bike with twin rear shocks. also i'm curious why they made it carbed and air cooled.

        pretty cool bike though

          both of those nortons have drum brakes. only mid 70s and later bikes i've seen have disc brakes. i think commandos all had big vented drums.
          those new nortons are cool. they probably went with air cooling and carbs because of costs - fi and liquid cooling are big $$ for a limited production bike.

            sorry I worded it poorly. I meant this specific model, of which I don't remember the name (I believe it was 750cc or something) had exceptionally high hp for the time, and front discs. the 2 of them i've ever seen I thought had front discs. maybe it was aftermarket though.

            I see the same one at the Mid Ohio ama sportbike weekend every year, and also see another one at the vintage races at Watkins Glen and they both had front discs

              I rode my 03 R6 for last summer until i wrecked into the back of a friends car and snapped my tibia (shin bone) clean in half. I am 90% recovered and am currently saving up to repair my bike and do plan to be back out there by spring time. My commute to DC sucks, I cant wait to get back on the bike again. It makes going to work fun!

                      ah I figured out what it was I was talking about. the Norton International. pretty darn cool bike;

                      obv this is an early 50s or so, i believe the ones i saw were late 60s. maybe they had discs by then, or maybe they were aftermarket. I remember looking into them on a forum and a lot of people saying they put discs on them

                      either way, I would like to buy one of those new nortons in a few years when they come out. pretty darn cool bikes

                          I used to own a black 91 Kwak ZX-11 with 6k miles on it. Total classic. I had to sell it because I got assigned off-shore for a year. Gawd I miss riding...
