Finding a place to live woes.

I just had a very long rambling post typed up... But decided to delete it for the following cliffnotes:

Life's a bitch. I'm 27, and am starting to get the feeling that the only time I'll ever get to really relax (since being a teenager), will be when I'm dead.

Seriously though, this whole thread is just a rant because I am more stressed now than I have been in my entire life. Starting a new career (great pay), can't find a place to live and it would be a 3 hour commute. I start Monday, and am probably going to end up in a hotel during the week.

Wife having our first born child in November, so theres that (exciting, but stressful)

Leaving a shop that I started with a friend 2 years ago.

Will be separated from my wife until she has the baby.

Just found a lump on my 4 year old lab's leg yesterday.

    Fuck.

there are no places to live in Maryland at all? sounds like if you're starting a good job, things will settle down pretty soon. a hotel for a few weeks while you're looking for a place is not uncommon, and not really a big deal, don't worry about it.

sorry to hear about your lab...

Just to clear things up, I am very happy for the way things are going... But at the same time I am so stressed out I am ready to explode.

      Just saw the reply above:

I'm in MD now, but would prefer to live in Manassas. My new job location is only 3 miles from the city, so I would like to have as short of a commute as possible. The Town Car I'm driving now only gets 16mpg in the city.

I am really hoping things will settle down soon. This is my first time off of flat rate. I have been turning wrenches for 10 years and the fluctuating pay has taken it's toll on my home life.

Oh, and if anyone needs an LS1 Standalone harness, I am still doing those on the side. ;)

The moment I was diagnosed being epileptic (after a seizure in a very public place) I pretty much barred for being a fire fighter. I was going to school up in San Luis Obispo for fire science and I was already volunteering at the station there.

My life was turned upside down. I was then prescribed anti depressants in which for over a year I was having very very dark thoughts including suicide. It has taken me 4 years of self loathing and low self esteem to, at the age of 25, to even go back to school.

A couple of things helped me out and moving and running away wasn't one of them. The best thing to do when I was stressed out was to remember that the two base emotions are either fear or love and stress is a byproduct of fear. When I stepped back from the situation I could realign my thoughts back to love... which was the opposite of stress for me.

I've started going back to school with the attitude that fuck it I ain't going to let this shit obstacle to hold me back down. Almost over night my new attitude has saved me and my future and all from a little switch from the brain.

In essence... things will happen as they will. Death, accidents, bad times will happen no matter what. As hard as it is to tell you this...no matter what hits you and your life, you have to embrace it, the good along with the bad. In the torrent of negative thoughts make yourself an anchor full of good ones.

Hell you should be able to find something to rent for resonable even if its a little more than a 3 min commute, hell anything inside of a 1/2 hour is great normally

Don't worry about the lump in the lab, they always get those, hell i haven't seen a dog without one. But labs especially, I'm sure its benign.

Life is a bitch, but it sounds like you have a loving wife, and a good paying job that in time, will bless your life. You just need to remember that most emotions are temporary, and pass in time, usually shorter then we expect. There is no need to worry about things that are out of your control.

Stick in there mate. It will come around, I know everyone says it, but it's true.

wow man. it really sucks when life doesn't turn out like you hoped. life is hard. i really have a lot of respect for you for being able to find a way to turn it around. you have some great concepts there. did it take therapy to get you where you are now?

o.p: whenever i think my life is in the shitter, i just look at others that i know who are in way worse shape than i am. is some fucked up way, it always makes me feel better. just the same you sound like you have a lot of good things going for you in your life right now. concentrate on those things. new baby-awesome! woman that love you-awesome! new job-awesome!

i have the personality where i take the lazes faire (sorry about the spelling) attitude about life. to me, this means that i don't need to control everything and generally with select input, things will fall into place and generally workout in the end. as a result, my life is pretty low stress.

here is another way i lower my stress level: when i go to work, i always try to do the best job i possibly can. it is a matter of principle for me. it also keeps my stress level down because i don't have to do a carpet dance in front of my chief pilot explaining why i did something stupid/pissed someone off/whatever, etc.

concentrate on the positives, take the dog to the vet. handle the immediate items in your life that are the most important at that time. tell your wife you love her. stop trying to control everything. get yourself a cheap shitty apartment close to work for the time being.(yes, i know anything near the dc area will be expensive as fuck) life will be good.

This. Absolutely this. Even if it may be easier, it's always less stressful to know that you'll never have to have a conversation about "intentional non-compliance."

                        ^+1! On the work.

I did go to a couple of counseling sessions with a guru who focused on meditation and energy (as blah as that sounds) . But all they can do is show you the door, you still have to open it and go through!

Just an update, found a place. Sitting here now using my air card to post. Heading off to start the new job in about 20 minutes!

                          Here's to new starts.

My wife will be joining me in December after she delivers. The pup is coming down next week along with all of our belongings. This week though, it's just me, my computer, air matress, a desk, chair, and Dunkin donut's coffee.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Already settling down.

Finished up the first day and gotta say I am loving it. Now just have to get the rest of our belongings down here, including my tool box. Currently using a very small, very old snap on box that I don't have a key to. Here's to hoping the overnight crew doesn't mess with my shit.

                              Oh, and internet porn.
