That's incorrect. Here is a Vidmar I rebuilt. In the first pic I have just the three deep drawers in the middle for the test fit, in the second they are at the bottom.

Here it is all prettied up

I would go the route of a used modular cabinet. Lista is my favorite. You can rearrange the drawers and dividers to just about any combination. Here's one of my Lista cabinet drawers in my machine shop. This cabinet is from 1983 and most of the parts are still available. It's a 13 drawer cabinet and I have well over 2000 lbs of stuff in it. Every drawer glides with ease.

Lista stuff is awesome, but super spendy. Plus, it's not really a "tool box" as much as it is a storage unit with drawers. More like furniture.

If you just need storage for tools a Lista or Vidmar are great but if you need to move out to the driveway pia unless you have a tool caddy.

Might be dinky-er than what y'all are looking at, but here's the bigger top drawer and thin drawer below. I have big weight in the lower drawers and it's always nice and smooth.

Lista makes tool boxes. They're basically tool drawers with a caster base, and are easily moveable because they have large, heavy duty casters.

I find this interesting as I'm in the process of doing the exact opposite.

Getting rid of my existing mishmash of tools and cart/box, and stripping down to just the essentials I need to maintain the track car. Only Metric sockets/wrenches, etc.

Everything will fit in a duffel bag that I can put on a shelf and out of the way at home, then when it's track time, either throw in the trunk of the car, or once I have a tow rig, throw in the bed.

I agree, if you can go with quality used brands over new semi-expensive cheap/thin stuff.

Craigslist you can score amazing deals/finds, but it can be a very long and time consuming process.

I have a standing Craftsman from Sears, the average toolbox of toolboxes. It's not what I'd really like of course but it works for now. I got it probably 7/8 years ago as a gift. Geez.

Yeah exactly like this site. I did list strictly on page 1. Wait for their sales and jump in on free shipping if you go that route.

I knew you were over there, I know there are a few others.

Yeah I'll go the strictly route when I move and have a bigger garage space. No need with my 2 car, that holds 1 exploded e30 and not much else.

Ah my two fits three E30's and bunch of crap. Guess at 24x26 it's reasonable sized.

Yeah, mine is the tightest two car ever.

                              (1970's home, was a carport, a PO converted it. 18 W x 16 L ish.)

                              ----------

I have a theory for men and garage spaces for every car you own you need +1 car more garage space. Much like how for each cat you should have the # of cats, plus 1 additional litter box. Two cats, three litter boxes.

Three cars, 4+ car garage minimum.

Thus why I think a 4/5+ garage is required at my next house. Or an attached 2/3 car with 30x30 / 40x40 detached garage.

                              Fancy:

Would love to be able to afford:

In reality though the strictly site gives a better deal, I know people covet their Snap On products though.

Truth. If you're a pro tech then get a snap on box. I got one and I love it. I've seen snap on boxes go for over 15k, pretty outrageous price imo.

For the hobbyist this box is pretty awesome.
