    Realized something this evening....

Some of you know I do voice work and some of my work incudes jingles and narrations.

Lately I've been working on an acapella song (to audition to get into this school) and I havent' had much luck with my vocals with singing since most of my work has been narrations and stories.

I tell ya, I've been straining my voice and just overkilling everything. Even my GF was saying I look too stressed out when I reherse and prep for my audition. At the end of the day, my voice was hoarse, even though I was able to ace the scales with ease

Today was my breaking point. After a couple weeks of struggling, I gave myself three guidelines:1) SLOW DOWN! 2) Focus on enunciation and finally and most importantly 3) HAVE FUN!!!

Such a turn around. I can't believe how much better I feel and sound. I recall my previous voice teachers commenting on how I look like I'm straining with some of my work. I thought I needed to relax my neck, or do more yoga...but nothing seemed to work.

But once I learnt to relax and have fun with it, is when everything came so much easier.

Let this be a lesson for the rest of you youngin's on the board. Many of you are struggling with work or life problems (relationships, parents, car repairs etc). If you focus on what's most important to you and have fun with it, I can guarantee you'll get what you want
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

I can relate to this, I'll take the advice and see if it works for me as well.
Currently struggling to decide what I want to do as well as trying to plan to move cross country (pnw).

These are some good points. I do a lot of live shows around town. #3 is usually hard for me cause im to focused on the way I sound, so if I mess up I think my entire performance is terrible over something that no one even noticed.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

Blunt is usually always first to the punch, much like the senior buffet line at Golden Corral.

EXACTLY! so many artists try to sound like X or dance like Y. What makes you individual and better than everyone else is that you don't have to try to be like someone else, you can show off what's important to you. THAT'S what ppl.will pay to see, thats what ppl. want!

Just run it on stage like your doing it in the rehersals. When you show your true self, that's what ppl want to see. The objective is to make your performances as efforless as possible. nobody wants to see someone struggle on stage. That's just sad (dont' worry, we've all been there b4).

Holland knows this because his career at Golden Corral puts him serving me mashed potatoes every Sunday at 430pm after the Misses and I come from Bridge Club

What can I say, I have to make sure my services are affordable for the average Walmart greeter.
