Any good tips for a radar detector?

How much are you willing to spend? if youre on the budget get a Beltronics Pro 300 or a Escort 8500 X50, you can do monthly payments, I pay $20/month for my Beltronics and it does plenty enough for me, just keep note that you have to put a down payment

I'm on a real tight budget. Just wanna spend between 20 and 30 to get something good and functional. Question is, are Chinese radars worth anything or just junk?

I wouldnt really go with some low end radar detectors IMO, they have a lot more false alarms and also their range is too short to the point its too late to slow down, like Cobras for example dont really do the job, ive tried them.

So the Chinese ones are worse than cobras?

Chinese are just as bad or worse but its up to you if i were you, save up, you dont wanna be out 20-70 bucks at the most for something that barely even works IMO

someone might have another POV on this situation but Ive done research around and tried some of the ones youll find at Walmart or Radioshack

So from your pov it's buy the good stuff that's so good it requires a monthly payment plan.
Another way to look at it.... Regular radio = shit wile state lit radio = not shit?

Truth. I have the 8500 X50 paired with Escort Live and it's great. It's already paid for itself multiple times over.

How is Escort Live? If its any good ill buy the adapter for my Beltronics Pro 300

It's pretty slick. I believe you can download the app for free and check it out. With the Smart Cord attached the detector will automatically report K, Ka and laser alerts to the network, and you can manually report sightings/traps through the app (or using the button on the cord).
