No lease agreement means, no deposit back. I've rented multiple times and I always have the mindset that I'm just not going to get the deposit back that when I do, it's like getting free money!

Make a $165 mess when you leave. Problem solved.

Assuming you paid in cash. If you happened to have paid by check you can go to small claims court and prove that you had monthly payments for a specific amount to them as a rent payment. Once that's established you should be able to get your deposit back.

This will undoubtedly take a day of you sitting in a municipal court, which blows. My time is worth more than $80, so I'd just say fuck it. You have one less chance to go out to dinner this month, buy some Ramen and call it a day.

Just let it go man. I don't think you can do much anyways.

I'd say the least you can do is take a humongous shit, don't flush and just move on. Take that as a learning life experience.

How the fuck is your deposit $165... around here it's ten times that

Do Devo's suggestion, then just move on if it doesn't work. An $80 lesson is NOTHING. To contrast, I just learned a $5k lesson, and I am not exactly swimming in cash. That is 1.5 S54s, down the drain. Be happy you are not out a whole lot more.

Small claims court. Trust me, this claim is too small. Walk away, learn a valuable lesson in renting.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but I feel like it involves rape or fire, but likely both.

I could be wrong, and maybe I'm mixing you up for someone else, but didn't we all warn you against renting a garage from a nice old lady?
