    Job issues what do..?

I have been at this job for a bit over 2 months...I basically took it because I was desperate at the time for money and wasn't in the position to wait for a better opening at a better place... and they basically fast tracked me into my position. Well needless to say..things haven't been going all that good. Save for 3 or 4 employees I work with on the daily/semi daily...its is basically a poorly run concept..with sup par employees...

Just an idea... we have had 2 managers quit within the last 30 days...and aparently countless employees over the past year..also apparently we have had 3 GM's quit/asked to vacate their positions in as many years not counting the 2 managers i spoke of prior...

our current GM has NO experience in the aspect of the company he is in charge of Save for kitchen.. not to mention No degree...and he is, shall we say, a bit in over his head... :shifty....he was basically made a manager because of the fact he was the longest standing employee..and to have him tell me how to do my job (which he has little to NO experience in doing) is a bit irritating..but i digress..

well today it all came to a head as I came in to begin my shift. I had been on the company property less than 3 min and i am torn into (all while talking to customers we had just received...) I wave him off and once i get my customers settled, I approach him calmly and professionally and ask him what was the problem...I received a tongue lashing which was totally uncalled for. (SIDEBAR!!.. i think the fact that his mom and fam was on the premises and about 5 ft away had a lot to do with him trying act like a big shot..)

after trying to explain my case.. unsuccessfully..and him basically dismissing my issues as "weak excuses, and back talk" i simply said ok, whatever and walked off to the bathroom to take a second or 2 to compose myself..before getting back to work..

after the shift i was asked to sigh a Coaching/Counseling form stating i had been talked to by said GM.. and when i was asked to sign..i laughed turned in my paperwork for the shift and walked away..

I have all but decided to leave this hell hole...but i am going to try to tough it out until

    A) i find another job..OR
    B) After the holidays..

but my issue comes in when i feel disrespected... that is something that will get my blood boiling EXTRA quick.. and it honestly took alot not just to leave tonight..

    what would R3v do?

It sounds like you're there for a paycheck, and not for the long term. Remind yourself that you aren't there for respect, you're there for money. The people that matter in your life, such as friends and family, respect you. Who cares of this guy, who will likely be getting fired or quit soon, by the sound of it, is respectful?
Ignore it, make money, and have a good holiday season.

You got you ass pealed and it hurt your wittle feelers............... awwwwww. Man up suzie, so what you got yelled at big deal its life, did you deserve it you say no, ok let's go with that. Sometimes you get an ass chewing you don't deserve it happens, its work suck it and deal with it or move on. You stood up for your self that's all you can do, you remained calm and professional that's even better yet. We have all had shitty bosses that may or may not know what is going on but if you want paid you have to deal with them or move on, its part of life. Deal with it. Sounds like you have made up your mind why do we have to hold your hand and tell you that you are in the right? ???

If I had a dollar for everytime I have been yelled at, at work or taken an ass chewing deserved or not I would be retired by now at 33. I have worked for some screamers that will chew your ass for doing what your told at times

One last little life lesson, you don't deserve or are entilted to respect (beyond basic courtesy you would extend to a stranger on the street) you EARN respect.

What was he yelling at your for? People don't just yell for no reason.
Sleeves why are you getting yelled at so much? I've never been yelled at on the job, not even once.

            ^^^^^ PREACH SLEEVE!

Unless you own where you work, you have no control over "respect"

I learned this the hard way. If you're there for a check, make it just that. Go to work, deal with the bitching and get your money.

Thizzzzzzzzzzeeellll. I have worked in the trades and heavy construction all my life. It just comes with the territory you learn to deal with it or you don't make it. Sink or swim

Whether it's a BH situation or not, life's too short to deal with that kind of crap.

Are we talking about a fine dining place here? If not, just bail. Even if it is, you can get contact info from your regulars while you look for the next gig, then let them know where to come see you once you find it.

No matter what industry or field you work in, few things suck worse than dreading going to your job.

this was heard in the company parking lot where I work before leaving for the jobsite one morning 3-4 months ago. Brian is the foreman, but Tim is more experienced/more qualified.

in a for real angry tone-

"What is up your ass, Brian?"

"I want a little respect, Tim."

                    "You have to earn that."

                    "I think I have."

"You just keep thinking that, Brian"

One of the funniest things I've heard in that parking lot. laughed all day. Imagine asking for respect.
