    Car transportation

I'm changing work locations, I do not want to drive my car from Bakersfield, Ca. to a small podunk town in Arkansas. Its a stock 5 speed e30 coupe on stock height, has anyone ever used a transportation company. I would either load it up in Bakersfield or I can load it up from my parents in Phoenix or my place in Tucson.

    Tips, suggestions?

    Thanks.

Intercity Lines is America's premier enclosed auto transport company. We are the nationwide enclosed car shipping company trusted by Jay Leno & Wayne Carini

I used Dependable Auto Shippers with good results, shipping from California to Indiana with a lowered 318is.

DAS has fucked up my inlaws car in 2002 and did not do well with one of my brothers projects. Inlaws was a stock Bonneville brothers was mint 86 fiero. Both had deep gouges on the front bumper covers and small dent in the inlaws front drivers fender, and front air dam was torn off my brothers. He used Innercity for his collector quality Minty mint perfect 88 Yellow 5sp 8500 miled Fiero when he bought and refused to let the buyer ship it with anyone else other than maybe Reliable carriers when he decided to sell it off.

I've had good luck with DAS. I just used Montway to ship a Volvo from Philly to PDX. They were reasonable and the guy I dealt with great. He's independent, as most "shippers" are just brokers. You might want to give him a call. PM me for his #.

montway was cool for me too, they shipped a 7 series and my dads 76 stingray. I've read bad reviews about them but the price was good and cars showed up a day early.

uShip makes shipping motorcycles, boats, and other large items fast and affordable by connecting you to our network of carriers who compete for your shipment.

Can get quotes from mutiple companies or post a job for them to bid on.

I put up my shipping job for my e30 M3 from San Diego to Denver. A bunch of companies put up quotes, I picked one based on price/reviews. I went w/ a small operation that was 2 brothers running their own small business. Was just my car on a trailer. No giant car hauler etc. Great service.

In contrast, a buyer in Atlanta bought my e92 M3 and one of the major companies with the cheapest rate showed up and proceeded to destroy air dam plastic and underneath of the front bumper (all the aero business) right in front of me then the driver threatened me and called me a racist for taking pictures of the damage to send to the buyer.

My Dad's used DAS with mixed results. One of his rare Citroen XM's arrived with a bunch of bad hail damage once...

My advice would be to do the drive yourself. I just drove an '88 325iS w. 215K from Washington DC, to Seattle, WA in 4 days without a hitch. It saved me a bunch of money and it was piece of mind + I saved a ton in shipping costs with what I could fit in the car.

The past two years I've done 12-16 hour trips 4 times a month. I'm just sick of driving but based on quotes I'm getting I'm probably gonna drive.

Where in Arkansas are you going to be? If you end up driving you can come up to Tulsa one night and we will take you out for some beers and good food.

tell aaron that charles with the 2002 sent you and he'll take care of you. I did my shopping around for weeks(oliver.r on here can vouch for that) and finally came to aaron after searching/calling/wasting so much of my time.

It is extremely easy to find a cheap quote, but to find someone that is insured/bonded and is willing to work on YOUR time-frame instead of swinging by when they have a truck in the area is hard.

Aaron has an outstanding feedback on transport reviews, and my experience was a +1 to that review as well.

anywho, give him a holler he seems to be a real good guy to work with.
