Just got offered a seasonal job by my friend, who happens to know the CEO of a local shuttle company.

With the Sundance Film Festival just around the corner, I've been told this is a great opportunity to make some good money throughout the ski season.

They sent me an email saying that if I accepted the position, I would be driving a 2014 Acura MDX (this shuttle company has a partnership with Acura and the Sundance Institute) and driving clients including perhaps celebrities

Has anyone heard or used the Uber app to request shuttle service? Can anyone share their experience?

That company, and a couple others like it, are pretty well-known in SF. Uber is the "high-class" option, as compared to Lyft. Didn't know they were providing drivers with cars now- previously, you used your own car to shuttle people around, and Uber required you to have a reasonably nice one. Sounds like a good deal to me if you have the time and need the cash.

Used it a lot.
It works well, is more than a standard cab, but clients should understand that.
You don't get paid on the spot, it's charged to their on-account CC.

Might be important to know how large Uber's network is locally before signing on. As that will dictate how busy one is.

I use uber fairly frequently. My standard approach is Car2Go to a bar and uber home.

Used it last weekend in LA, and it was nice. I appreciated being in a nice black Tahoe as opposed to a 12 year old Crown Vic with vinyl seats soaked in tranny-prostitute urine.

Yeah they are saying they need professional drivers for the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, they will hook me up with a black MDX and they have "other ways for me to make money on top" I could def use the extra cash

I take Uber every few weeks for random reasons, it's a nice service. Drivers tend to be in suits and drive clean, modern cars.

I also know some people that work for Uber engineering, it's definitely not a sketchy company at all.

My only question is what is your downside risk? Are you expected to provide anything? You can make some money doing this, but it's not what I would call a *great* job by any stretch.

The short notice was no problem at all. The short instrument was a bit of a disappointment but it performed dutifly for what it was.
