filled with flammable liquid and made with flammable composites.

Modern exotics are juts as much of a death trap as past exotics. Despite rising safety standards and gear.

Considering its not a clapped out three decade old e30, combined with the fact that the car is notorious for being a tryhard death trap, I'd say driver error is a pretty safe assumption.

Roda's son and Walker's best friend were trying to pull him out of the wreckage. :(

RIP Paul Walker and his fellow partner.

Only thing one can be thankful for is that Iam glad that the skinny tree that amazingly still stands was not a familly member of mines nor of anyone's, specially not a group of kids crosing the street...

"Bullshit asshole, no one likes the tuna here."

Had to do it, when I think Paul Walker, ^this is the first thing that comes to mind.

Walker's got a movie coming out next week called Hours. It doesn't look spectacular but if you were a fan of his, make sure to get out and see it in his honour.

Regardless of driver error it was obvious they were traveling at a very high rate of speed.

                aka the drivers error.

I wanted to see the location, so I went and did some digging.

Also, seeing the road now, and relating it to the location of AE, I would bet the driver was likely above the triple digit mark. I'm guessing he got on the brakes because of the 90* turn just ahead, and the car got loose and stepped out on him. There was nowhere to go...
Very likely. Breathe on the accelerator in a Carrera GT and you are doing triple digits.

I still think this is really sad.

Sean Lewis (great Porsche race driver) recently died as a passenger when the Porsche he was instructing in crashed on track, too. Sad stuff.

                    It was Sean Edwards

Being brought up in a Porsche owned family i am sadden every time something like this happens... Ryan Dunn, Sean Edwards and now Paul Walker i guess its true that celeberties die in threes.

Very sad, one of the few actors who seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

                        He had a few E30 M3's too.

Yeah, except Dunn was driving under the influence... at night... and estimated to have been travelling roughly 130mph before losing control of his car.

I have very little sympathy for people who die as a result of that kind of behavior.

Yeah thanks, for some reason I keep screwing up his name. VRAlexander (more of internet celeb) died in a 996 at a hillclimb a few years ago too.

Sad that this had to happen, and it looks like speed probably did play a part in the incident.

Roger (the driver) was a race car driver and competed this season in the GTS class of the Pirelli World Challenge. He and Paul had both driven in the 25 hours at Thunderhill. Paul had also competed in several Redline time Attack events.

With that being said, they should have known better then to push it on the streets. A fellow race driver I know said even some cars (like the Carrera GT) at even 3/10's on the street is dangerous.

From what several of the people that rushed to scene said, they had already used several extinguishers on the car, but couldn't get it out.
