People seem to like mine, I've never gotten any negative (to my face) feedback... I was at the local BK hot rod meet with my dad and I had a long conversation with a hot rodder (that I met the weekend before in my truck) and he really seemed to like it.

I had a guy the other day say, "that's a sweet bimmer, is it new???"

I had a random guy in a new-ish infiinty, I think, stop next to me at a red light, had me roll down the window, and was like, "Dude, nice Bimmer!" *thumbs up*. Kept looking it over as I drove off.

This was in my clapped out bondo patch paint primer dented exhaust leaky e28.

I was blown away.

In Malta people hate on E30s because most people that own them swap 2.0L turbo diesel Toyota Carina engines in them (that 2C engine with like 75hp), and are unnecessarily loud and really not well maintained, as well as being idiots on the road. Not to mention they really don't go fast...

I consider myself lucky to have found mine with the factory engine since it's quite rare to find one here unfortunately.

Other than friends giving me crap because they an, I haven't really had any problems. I get the occasional person that comes up and tells me they had one 20 years ago and think it's cool I'm still driving/working on one.

My wife works at a company with a lot of Taiwanese folks. One of them said to her, "isn't he embarrassed to drive that thing?" So yes, I get the "you must be a poor piece of shit" look from some of the FOB Chinese in the Bay Area. It's not waisist because my wife is Asian and she can't stand the types with that attitude either. She gets the same kind of shitty looks in her 10+ year old Civic, probably moreso since she is Asian and they expect her to be rolling in a new Champagne colored RX350 or something. "You must be too stupid and lazy to be rich."

Just on principle, I assume that Prius drivers hate my car because it is old and not doing its part to save the earth. Because buying a new car is definitely the most eco-friendly thing anyone can do. That and smelling your own farts, which I am pretty sure you have to do at the dealership before they hand over they keys to a Prius.

Other than some silly "cultural" issues from a small crossection of people, I don't get any crap about my car. The paint is sort of sad looking at the moment since it has not seen wax in a good 2 years, but that just makes having the Metric Mechanic engine that much more fun since the car definitely attains "sleeper" status. I pulled half a car length on a newish Infiniti G35 from 0-70 coming back from the grocery store with my wife a few weeks ago, and she said that the other driver's expression was a solid "WTF". That was pretty satisfying lol.

Never got any hate, but god the attention from cops is ridiculous. I've gotten pulled over while stopped at a red light.

I only had one negative comment so far. I was trying to find parking at the state fair last month and some little girl in a group of kids yells out "your car sucks!" What a whore.

I laughed way harder at this then I should have haha

I've never had anyone hate on my car, but I do get looks that kinda say "seriously?", but it's deserved. I mean, I have a loud exhaust, roll bar, fixed back seat, harness, and numbers on the car all the time, so I am being that guy. It usually gets compliments from car guys though.
