As the title states, I seem to have terrible Carma in regards to my freaking door mirrors. I have an '03 E46 330Ci and after last night I've had both door mirrors sheered off the car and neither perpetrator stopped to leave a note.
The first time it happened while the car was parked on the street in an up and coming area of town, and while I was mad, I could at least understand it. I paid $200+ for a new mirror from FCP Euro parts that didn't fit (no threads were cut in to the mirror housing and I had to tap and die it to get the bolts to thread back on the new mirror housing, a total PITA), and a week after I did that, now the passenger side door mirror has been snapped off.
What really irks me about the passenger mirror is that it happened at my g/f's condo complex, where units cost between $300-$400k. None of them are rentals, so whatever happened to people being actual neighbors and leaving a damn note on the windshield when they break someone else’s stuff?!
The internal housing of the mirror is made of metal, so I think I'm going to try to weld it back together this weekend (I have a TIG welder). Since this is R3V, I figured someone might have experience in attempting this non-sanctioned method of door mirror repair. Any thoughts?
Thanks for letting me vent guys, this mirror situation has been pissing me off the last couple weeks.
