    Anyone into slot cars?

I had one as a kid, and decided to pick up a set for my stepson.
He's 6yrs old, and I selected to get a good quality one.

    Carrera Go! brand, DTM showdown.
build quality is really impressive, but better yet the detail on the cars themselves is awesome.

he absolutely loves playing, and we've been racing a lot...once you get the hang of it we get pretty competitive lol

really reminded me of the fun I had with my set from my youth.

    anyone else play with these?

I used to race the big ones, like you couldn't afford a track at home kind. the car was prolly about 6-8 inches. Brands like Parma and Champion.

I ran GP15, GP27 and open class back in the late 70's. The local track was an American Orange, running on 4 sets of HUGE batteries. Our cars were clocked at 80+ MPH real speeds, just a blur on the track.

Wing cars only, except for a little womp-womp action on a friday night when all the guys were drunk.

So, yeah, back when I was 14, I was hardcore.

I had a full basement when I was a kid. My dad and I built a huge 2-lane, 1/32 scale layout that took up at least a third of it. The back straight was just shy of 24 feet (3 sheets of Plywood).......had bumps, chicane, a nasty cross track, and a hair-pin turn. Huge fun! I still have the track and all of the cars packed away at my dad's house. I collected for most of my Jr. & Hi. School years. Everything from early Scalex tinplate to late 60's Cox. Most of the bodies were F1.

            Someday..........

I had what seemed like hundreds of feet of Scalectrix growing up in England. My dad and I had a track that would go through three rooms, part of it even went up the stairs. Mom loved that...
