Anyone good at rooting a phone?

I need help with rooting my galaxy Note 2. 4.3 completely dumped my signal and i would like to go back to the previous 4.1 or install kitkat 4.4 rom. If anyone has experience with rooting, let me know. Thanks.
    Rob.

I had my signal dump when I upgraded to 4.3. I thought about rooting to go back to the version I had before but I'm due for an upgrade so I'm just going to go that route.

I was in the same boat as you. My GNexus updated to 4.3 a while ago and it became a big steaming pile. I finally upgraded to the note 2 (after hearing the note 3 suffered poor signal out of the box) and all was fine until the note 2 got the upgrade. It turned the note 2 into the GNexus in terms of poor signal. I have to root the note 2 or else I'm going to throw it against a wall. Nothing like an upgrade that's a total downgrade. Thanks Samsung!

What carrier are you on? I have not seen these issues with the ATT OTA updates. You may not need to fully change the rom so much as gett a better working radio.

Rooting will only allow you more access to your phones functions. What you want is to install a different rom.

I personally recommend CyanogenMod. They even have an app now that will flash the rom for you.

I am on Verizon. The radios that are in Samsung phones are notorious for being weaker than Motorola for example. The reason for lower powered radios is for longevity of the phone itself. Lower powered radios equals less heat. This is why Motorola phones have great signal but usually fail sooner than most brands.

I live in a questionable area for signal to begin with . the But this doesn't excuse the fact that my wife is suffering also. Look into the Note 3 issues and you will find ssome pretty high numbers of owners that are unsatisfied. Any of the Galaxy phones for that matter. It's just unfortunate because the Notes are flagship phones with fatal problems regarding signal strength. Sadly it is hardware related, not software.

Thanks for the link. I have looked into that in the past. The cm11 seems to have the ability to upgrade to 4.4 if i wanted. My concern is with the initial backup. I want to make sure I do it right.

Yeah the cm11 m2 should be pretty nice. You can find a vid for flashing any cm ROM to your phone and its all the same. Roms tend to help with reception because they have better radios on them. I am fortunate to live in an area with awesome reception. I'm still running strong on my note 1. I was talking about funding a better radio possibly not for longevity. As people tweak rims they tend to find radios that just work better. I hope a new ROM fixes your issue. I personally have been on att and around here I have seen no issues.
