My home office view, gotta love MI!

So as I sit in my home office surfing the net, I had to take a minute and look at how beautiful winter really is. I do envy those of you who live in yearly warm climates but its something about a cozy fire and the muffled silence a fresh blanket of snow brings.

    Time to go snow drifting!:nice:

Nice. I am so epic burnt out on the snow, not because of the cold, but because of the mess it makes.

      Looks cosy though.

I have seen numbers ranging from -12 to -18 as a low with wind chills in the -20's for Detroit tomorrow. I hope my flight to Vegas that is supposed to leave tomorrow afternoon takes or somewhere near the scheduled time. A little worried about the extreme lows, I bought my house last summer just worried about freezing pipes potentially in the crawl space or random stuff like that while I'm gone. Previous owner had an issue once with frozen up pipes but there was also a 2 X 4 foot opening in the back of the crawl space that he didn't know about and I closed off and insulated along with heavily insulating and sealing the entrance door. Hope I don't come back to any issues, guess I should have a friend swing by and check

Leave the tap running very slightly?
Don't know if that works in temps that low.

^Yes it does. But I would do more than very slightly.

I had 3 plumbing explosions in my shop last winter. I would despise to have it happen in the home.

I always shut off my main water line when I leave town and open all of the faucets down stairs to empty the pressure out of the lines. Just make sure to turn off your hot water tank so you don't burn out an element.

My father lives in Michigan and he loves it. He lived in Florida for 30 years, essentially hated it the entire time and moved back up north. He lives in Roscommon and constantly tells me how nice it is.

We have a similar view in MN. I don't know about you but we're hovering at a cozy -11° right now with tomorrow looking like a high of -17°. Fml
