    Bosch vs. Makita

I know there are some die-hard Makita fans out there, and I've been told by owner of a tool repair facility both companies are good, but here's my question to you...

I'm looking to get a cordless grinder, and I already own a Bosch cordless drill. Logic would suggest I stay with the same brand, but my problem is that Bosch is $100 more. WHY?

    Makita
    http://www.amazon.com/Makita-BGA452-...8975509&sr=1-7

    Bosch
    http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-CAG180-0...975328&sr=1-19

It's the same for the 'tool only'. Makita is $98 and Bosch is $215. I just don't get it.

    Help? Debate? Troll?

Makita, period. If Milwaukee was a choice, I'd vote for that. Not a fan of Bosch power tools.

First off, what are you using the grinder for?
The Bosch offers a more superior motor as the main difference. As far as tools go, it's personal preference. Go to Home Depot and hold both in your hand. With grinders, ergonomics are very important. The more comfortable you are using the tool the less likely you will grow fatigued, make a mistake, or worse hurt yourself. Second, if you already have a Bosch tool with an interchangeable battery, you will be building a family of tools based on the same power source. That means less weight, and space. What do I mean? Chargers. Two different chargers will need to be used while working with both tools, which means an extra outlet will be used as well. Look, we all have our preferences. If you want my opinion, go for the Bosch because of what I said above. I sold power tools for years, I own a basement of power tools, all different brands, all types. I mainly use my ridgid because I have the most of them with matching power sources. Also, if you can go corded, I like metabo. They make the best corded grinder out there. It's like a worm drive skill saw. You just can't beat some tools.

        milwaukee fan here too.

i would stick with the tool manufacturer you already have. why don't you buy the bosch grinder used? look on craigs and ebay and pawn shops if you have them near you.

i buy used tools all the time. i never pay more than half what a new one costs.

Great call. Especially when it comes to high end retail tools like Bosch. They are pretty reliable. Find one used, fire it up before you buy it and smell the vents. If they stink of burnt carbon, if the handle is really worn, if the arbor holes are mis formed, those are all singes of heavy use.
