    Is improper equipment a traffic violation in NC?

    Trying to figure this out for someone, any help is appreciated.

      Hmm, I should know this....I believe it's an "infraction" and not a moving violation. A *friend* told me that he went to court one time and got his speeding ticket changed to improper equipment because of non-stock size tires on his car were making the speedo read wrong (better bring some proof if you go this route). It cost him like $125-150 in "court costs"- which I thought was BS, but no fine and no points on his license or insurance.
