AAFES made a killing on the pogs.

Seriously, I did too! Both deployments I was on, I'd ask people leaving if they wanted their pogs, and usually they would just give them to me! Paid for most if my haircuts both times!

Pogs were only circulated in deployed environments, but you could cash them in anywhere (AAFES). At regular oconus installations they did not use pennies.
