    Video transfer to PC questions

    Here's my deal.

I have two things I am trying to accomplish here.

    1. I have an assload of old VHS-C tapes from my old camacorder that I'd like to put onto DVD and archive.

    2. I have a newer MiniDV camera that has an I-link port, but the manual has ZERO instructions on how to get the DV out onto the PC.

Looking at some kind of video capture unit for the desktop. Hopefully one can work for both.

My desktop does NOT have a firewire input.

I am lookig for some recommendations here. Am I likely to find a good quality unit that can serve to capture the analog and the DV for me?

Or do I need two different peripherals?

Thanks in advance for your input.

get a firewire2 card for your minidv cam. they're like $40, and install it into your desktop, it will make your life 1298739487x easier. as far as VHS, the only way i've found to do it is to route it through my minidv cam and again use firewire to capture it to the computer.

Ok, so this looks like what I might need - my old camera needs the RCA inputs, the new one has the firewire. BUT, the firewire port on my camera is 4 pin. Is there such a thing as a 4 to 6 pin cable?
