    Nigerian Scams...

Anyone been a victim? Almost sent my $800 camera... Lol at me for thinking a guy from Nigeria, stationed in Afghanistan would want my camera bundle for his daughter's birthday.

Luckily for me, I used Google, just now, the night before I shipped.

I hope he gets caught someday.

(such a perfect smiley for this)

So I repost the ad and low and behold, a paypal buyer shows up again, right away, texting me.. AND BEST PART! This guy says he'll have someone pick it up from my location!!

Anyone know if this is worthy of some sort of bust for the cops or FBI even maybe? Excuse my ignorance as White Collar has been a show I've possibly been watching. haha

I didn't put my address on there, but I can surely set this guy up!

I should ship a foam middle finger. Just because it will feel amazing to know some guy received that. OR... I GPS tracker... securely hidden in the backpack. I've been watching too much TV.

Had the same situation happen to me with a guitar I was selling on Craigslist. I was 14 at the time and knew nothing about the interwebs. Parents took over and didn't let it happen. And I still have this damn guitar 6 years later. Almost wish I sent it haha

Jesus Christ. Every time I put something that is big enough to be shipped on craigslist a "solider" or guy on his "honeymoon" asks me to ship them my shit. It's not even convincing when the first text is "Hello i am interested in your product, I will be paying you $200 over asking and compensating you for shipping. I am a US marine stationed in north africa." Like fuck you, I even put not shipping in the ad. Nothing pisses me off more.

Only my first time. Lol. I took it upon myself to start messing with them.

The guy wanted ME to GIVE HIM $900 for the camera so his "mover" can get it to him, after he "deposits $2000 into my paypal" or some garbage like that. I told him I can only deposit $1 at a time for the next 900 days, and then he'll get the camera. haha. His reply "WTF!".

Why did you want to ship it? I don't get it. Why ship anything that hasn't been payed for?

On a side note, I did get scammed paying for the first GoPro, form Shanghai, years ago. Two days later, the Alibaba page is gone. I was pissed.
Dude is probably in a a labor camp or worse now.

I've never used PayPal, therein which lies my confusion. I need the money and he said he deposited the money already, but PayPal holds the money? Not sure on this, but I think you have to give a tracking number before you get the money from PayPal. I got an email "from paypal" telling me the money is deposited. Anyone know how the money deposits work? do they go right through? Anyway, that's why I fell for it, and being greedy

                          Plot twist.
PayPal holds your money for eBay sales, never private ones. If you recieve money that is "held", your account will say you have $XYZ pending. It is "on your paypal account", but you can't do anything with the money.
The email you got is very likely a phishing email and if you logged in through a link in that email, that guy now has your login info and possibly money.
Log in to your account through www.paypal.com now and change your password.

Btw: you can usually identify real paypal emails because they always say "Dear John Dough,.." whereas phishing emails just say "Hi,.." or "Dear email@email.com,.."

I sent him a request for the money, which put into my account a pending message. But that was for payment that I never got. Pretty much just was new to PayPal and didn't know what I should be seeing. I definitely didn't do anything through the emails I got. I was cautious the whole time. Now I know, thanks for not being an ass.

Just trying to let people have a laugh at my situation. I guess I'm retarded for laughing at myself.
